Flip Image

Horizontal flipping (mirroring) is the most commonly needed operation. It reverses the image as if you were looking at it in a mirror. Vertical flipping turns the image upside down, which is useful for correcting inverted scans or creating reflection effects.

Selfie correction is the number one use. Phone cameras mirror selfies by default, which makes text in the background appear backwards. Flipping the image horizontally restores the correct orientation.

Designers flip images to change the visual direction of a composition. If a person in a photo faces left but the layout needs them facing right, a horizontal flip solves it without reshooting. Flipping is also used to create symmetrical patterns, mirror reflections for artistic effects, and correct scanned images that were placed face-down the wrong way.
